Session 1: Pilates 101

This foundation workshop provides a perfect introduction or refresher to the principles of Pilates-based movement used at SAOR. Focusing on mindfulness, breath, precision and control, you will build an understanding of popular Pilates strengthening exercises. Helpful modifications will be included so you can tune into your body and move safely, in a way that feels right for you. By the end of this session you will move with confidence in our group classes, feeling more connected to your mind and body.

Session 2: Equipment Essentials

Many classes at SAOR incorporate fitness equipment such as bands, weights, blocks, Pilates balls and Pilates rings, to challenge the body and help you move into new strength. In this workshop you will learn how to move safely, with proper form and alignment, while using various pieces of equipment found in our classes. You will leave this session feeling empowered to use our studio equipment with confidence.

Session 3: Modifications for High Impact Exercises

High energy, sweat dripping, heart pounding cardio efforts is what SAOR is known for. And we also honour that high impact movement might not always feel right for your body. This workshop will inspire you to move freely and mindfully in our high energy classes. We will demonstrate low impact modifications, showing you how to keep the intensity of your workout, just with less impact.  You will still sweat – guaranteed! You will finish this session feeling confident to step into any class at SAOR, knowing how to move your body mindfully.
